We’re committed to giving back to the communities that bring us our tea. Most of the tea for our signature everyday brew comes from Gisenyi, Rwanda and we work with the Point Foundation to provide specialist care and accommodation for disabled children and young adults in the area, and to support vulnerable young people through education. We make a donation to the Point Foundation with every pack of everyday brew we sell. We also match donations our customers make on our website and run regular fundraising efforts. Thanks to all contributions so far we’ve raised a whopping £200,000.
Our everyday brew is 100% Rainforest Alliance certified and we’re members of the Ethical Tea Partnership. They work to improve sustainability in tea growing regions and to protect the environment in which they operate.
Our tea temples are plastic free! Made from cornstarch, our tea temples are compostable and you can put them in your food waste for your local council to take away.
All our packaging is compostable, recyclable or re-usable. Our pack cartons are FSC certified and we print using vegetable ink.
Sustainability Goals 2018
- This year we’ve worked hard to increase donations to The Point Foundation, a charity based in Rwanda where we source our everyday brew. As well as our on pack and online donations, we also donated all of the proceeds of our first ever Pop- Up Shop to a Vocational Training Centre in one of Rwanda’s poorest regions. We will continue to drive donations this year to help improve the lives of the communities where we source our tea.
- Our everyday brew is 100% Rainforest Alliance certified. We are now working on achieving certification for all of our black teas.
- We are working hard to become a Certified B Corporation which requires businesses to meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
- Packaging has been a big focus recently. Our 15 and 50’s packs are 100% plastic free. We are looking into alternative materials for our individual envelopes and loose leaf pouches so that they can be easily recycled.
